Characteristics
Abundant aromas of cassis and vanilla. Rounded flavors of black cherries and chocolate. Soft grainy tannins frame a long finish that will reward 4-5 years of aging. Best paired with buffalo steak or ostrich.
Vineyard Source
Conn Creek’s Rutherford Estate Vineyard surrounds the winery on three acres first planted in 1980 and replanted in 2001. Cortina gravelly loam soil, found in only 0.2% of the Napa Valley, is specific to the vineyard. Warmer on average than both Oakville and Stags Leap District, Rutherford AVA produces wines with jammy, ripe berry aromas and flavors complemented by a supple mouthfeel and layers of complexity.
